If anyone can help me identify a song I heard on BBC R2 I would be very grateful because it's hard to track down if you'll excuse the pun. I've heard it twice around lunchtime on the radio and once in Asda but I have no idea who it is and some lengthy internet based searching has got me no closer. The song is a woman singing and the choruses go something like "take me to the river, and wash me in the water" and it has a very upbeat almost dance floor type beat. It's not Talking Heads or Al Green but they are all I find when looking online for it.

In the early 90s I went from listening to Wet Wet Wet to being obsessed with rave and jungle DJs almost overnight. The ecstasy probably had something to do with it.

Thanks for the lead George but no Hamlet. The song I'm thinking of has a forgetable verse but when the chorus starts and the singer is warbling on about being taken to the river and washed in the water the drumming tempo is really lively which is what I remember the most. It has a 4/4 gospel vibe and could be a recent and unreleased track which would explain why I can't find it but I definitely remember hearing it in Asda. I should contact Radio 2 but thus far have not.

These guys & gals are a friendly bunch, and pretty knowledgeable:

(international, not UK, so most won't necessarily be familiar with Asda/Radio 2 references.)
This is all off-topic and screwing up the game. Please direct this to the Rock/Pop thread!
