British Comedy Guide

First time in London!

Hello!

I'm taking my first trip to London in November and was hoping to get some recommendations as to what comedy venues/shows I should be on the lookout for. I'm a huge TV nerd (I'm a TV producer by trade) and would appreciate recommendations to TV show tapings as well.

Thank you!

I'm sorry I can't help you because I live in the North. Bloody typical of the Southern softies on here to just ignore you. Now it it was advice on a nice pie or barm cake you'd have a load of us northerners helping you

:P

And welcome to the site.Wave

Welcome!

Re: tapings, you might find some useful info on this thread:

Welcome.

When I last frequented London (some time ago) the Comedy store in Leicester square was the place. Also the Jongleurs chain normally had smart venues. Time Out was the magazine to get reviews from and Brighton (London by the Sea) has a comedy festival just after the Edinburgh festival but much bigger. There were also half price ticket offices for (comedy) plays if you didn't mind booking a few hours before the show started, again around the Leicester square area. Hope that helps.

You could visit the Canal Theatre Cafe for Newsrevue.

Also maybe someone could organise one of our meet ups for when you're over.

A visit to the The Comedy Store is a must, if you can see The Comedy Store Players. Otherwise there are lots of other localized clubs depending on where you are. The Leicester Square Theatre has lots of different shows and is worth a look.

Come visit Soho! :)
