And yet...Labour did better than expected and Corbyn has higher personal ratings than May. Some people in denial here clearly.
Why does comedy lean to the left? Page 11

That's not saying much. It wouldn't be surprising to see Adolf Hitler with a higher approval rating than Theresa May right now.
42 percent approve of his leadership. More than those who don't and far than those who don't. And Labour have a good lead.

Whatever gloss Labour supporters try to put on it, the fact remains that the Conservatives secured 800,000 more votes and 55 more seats than Labour. It is surely those who seem to think that the election was somehow a success for Labour that are in denial.

Labour managed election expectations very successfully, and the Conservatives incredibly poorly.

The reason many people are impressed with Corbyn's result is that it came in despite party turmoil and continued assaults from the right-wing press. There are Tories who admit this is an achievement.
Anyone who thinks this election has been anything other than a disaster for May and the Tories is in serious denial.
Labour didn't win but both they and Corbyn have been immeasurably strengthened.
Yes of course it was a disaster for May & the Conservatives. They should never have called an election. It was foreseeable (as per my bet of £24 on a hung parliament @ 13/2 as soon as the election was called).
But it was also a disaster for Labour. They lost! The purpose of the election - or any competition - is to win.
It is only being marketed as a "success" because they started off with such low expectations. We can all claim successes if we have low expectations and then surpass them. On that basis the FA Cup should have been presented to Sutton United last season.
Quote: Chris Hallam @ 2nd July 2017, 2:01 PMFrankie Boyle is left wing but hardly PC.
Steve Coogan is not on benefits. Er no. So what?
Boyle may think he's left wing but being wildly unPC he'll never be welcomed into Corbyn's left as you can get Labour party. Have you any clue as to what you can and can't say now if you represent Labour? It's a PC minefield.
Coogan happy to pay 80% income tax under a Corbyn govt. then? Ask him. He'll be off to the States like the rest of them.
It clearly wasn't a disaster for Labour.
Has Steve Coogan been saying lots of pro-Labour stuff lately? I've not noticed.
Left wing is not the same thing as pro-Labour. Jimmy Carr has never pretended to be left wing anyway.
All comedians are seecretly Tories? Not convinced by this conspiracy theory. Sorry!

Unless you're HITLER Ken HITLER Livingstone HITLER.
Quote: Chris Hallam @ 20th June 2017, 5:26 PMAnd whatever the hell Hitler was, he clearly wasn't socialist!
Erm he was a National Socialist yes. Made Corbyn's renationalisation and public works promises look like a little whim. He got the whole of Germany off its arse and transformed it into a superpower following a very socialist theology.
I'm no fan of Germany being a super power, running the EU telling us what to do after we thrashed them in two world wars, no!
Yes Coogan's very publicly been doing Corbyn's tory bashing lately.
I have no idea.
Quote: Chris Hallam @ 3rd July 2017, 12:05 AMEnough of this nonsense please
I'll second that!
