Not my favourite Bond, yet an important part of my youth...and a very charming person.
RIP Roger Moore
RIP
I personally thought that he was a great Bond for that era. The series had already gone down the comedy route with Diamonds are Forever, but Roger was much more suited to it than Sean.
He also gave a superb serious performance in The Man who Haunted Himself.
A very underrated actor.
Oh no...........the quintessential Englishman I always felt and my main memory of him was as The Saint, which I grew up with. So sad.
Bit weird though as it was only this morning that I was reading an anecdote about him from the Paul Daniels' biog. I am on at the moment.
What a shame. I've always liked him, but I suppose he was quite old.
He was a very likeable person. I've not heard a bad word said about him although I'm extremely envious of him with Fiona Fullerton.
Just about to watch the Persuaders on True Entertainment.
The best James Bond for me. Rip

And this afternoon one of the questions on Tipping Point was on Ivanhoe, which was Roger's first major TV role. Spooky.

A John Barry classic theme and one of the finest from the 1970s.................and if you see the vid. to the end you might notice an instance of how they could never agree whose name should be first in the titles, so the alternated them.

I've got those on DVD too. They did have long series!
I loved him.....

Welcome back Doc. Still travelling I see.
Yes another fan of his here, don't think he took his acting at all seriously and neither did he mind the constant criticism of it. He knew his looks and charm got him his roles, and that fantastic voice. One of the last of that old school breed of very British charmers, as suave as you'll find, especially in these charmless times.
