People you can't bear, but it's not really fair . . . Page 7

Back on topic, cats in Australia have caused the extinction of about 20 species of cute native animals and put many more on the endangered list. Morrissey, one of England's best known feline fanciers, got all upset when Australia announced plans to kill 2 million feral cats a couple of years ago.

Feral cats are responsible for similar destruction in Asian nations because few are neutered and unwanted kittens go wild.

Britain's attempt to save red squirrels in the 1970s by importing cats to prey on grey squirrels was a disastrous failure. Going further back, bringing grey squirrels over from America in the 1870s to control acorn numbers was an equally shortsighted move.

As for hedgehogs, they don't make great pets, as they invariably try to crawl under their water bowls and spill them. Though they are otherwise easy to look after and eat just about anything.

Alex Zane. He just seems a bit pointless to me, which may be unfair . . .

He's like the kid at school other kids would stick a piece of paper on the back of that read "kick me" . . . I wasn't the sort of kid who would do that myself, but if I saw one on a kid like him, I wouldn't remove it or tell him either.

Huh?

Nick Grimshaw because he is so damn unfunny. When Chris Moyles presented the radio breakfast show it was laugh a minute but I have never once laughed at anything Nick Grimshaw has said. He's also annoying because he says aah all the time.

Coming up in about 20 minutes aah I'm gonna play a brand new track aah that I think is going to be massive aah that's coming up after the news aah and then I'm going to say more crap that's not funny aah....

Also Russell Kane because he looks like Nick Grimshaw.

Russell Kane 'cos it rhymes with Alex Zane . . . and because he's Russell Kane.

You need to get yourself over to Radio 2 post haste.

Yes. You'd be much better off with Ken Bruce! And Liza Tarbuck!

I am so old.

Ha, me too, can't get enough of Jeremy Vine and Steve Wright In The Afternoon, oh and Elaine Paige on Sunday!

Jings . . . is Steve Wright in Afternoon even still on? He read a fax of mine out when I think Jackie Brambles was part of team . . . must have been circa 1989 . . .

:O

I defected to Radio 2 a few years ago partly because of Nick Grimshaw and the range of music is so much better than Radio 1. Chris Evans is witty and helps me wake up in the mornings and the afternoon shows are a nice escape on my lunch break. On Saturdays I save up all my chores and do them when Liza's show starts.

Liza's my favourite. <3
I NEVER remember to listen live, so I always listen to the podcast (then I can skip the songs I don't like).

Have been trying for a long time to think what the title of this thread reminds me of.

It's "My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows" - the debut album by Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Also, only realised this week that Russell Kane is a different person from Russ "Capital Flying Eye" Kane.

Yeah, I love Chris, he makes things happen, like getting Jeff Lynne to Hyde Park and reigniting ELO.

Don't forget Paul O Grady and Johnnie Walker.....

Too much inane chatter with celebrity chefs that I've never heard of or, on Fridays, with actor chums and others that I've never heard of. And, at the first mention of "Carfest" on any day (which normally doesn't take long), I re-tune immediately to Gold for some decent music.

Joanna Lumley. Can't tell you why but she and the plummy voice just give me a right pain in the arse.

You're just jealous because she is so stunningly, beautifully, effortlessly, sexy - especially for a 70 year old!
