Not the actual car but mine was white with plenty of rust. It was only 10 years old when I bought it but that's how cars were then.
The lad I bought it from had one of there, which is the cabriolet version and my all time dream car.

And you could fix them yourself!
You could literally climb into the engine bay and fit a headlamp bulb easily with the biggest hands in the world. Mine came with an eight note air horn and I would ask mates to look at the engine for a fictitious fault whilst I 'started it', then give them a blast of the horn. Yes, I've always been a twat.
My first was a red Ford Fiesta which wasn't very reliable and would cut out at random and stop the footbrake from working properly. I had to approach junctions really slowly because if it cut out I wouldn't be able to brake in time. Then had an Audi 80 auto which was a great little car and looked a lot more expensive than £750 price tag. The reg was H11 AAA which was more valuable than the car. The engine started making a grinding noise but I was an idiot and didn't get it looked at until finally the gearbox broke on a dual carrigaeway. Moral of the story is to not ignore grinding noises.
Interesting about the price. My new Beetle cost £830 (including road tax) in 1971.
Grinding noises are always scary.
Look at you with your brand new car inthe 70's. McKardashian.

Don't give teenagers a lift in the back then.

Bought with savings, a bank loan and a loan from the mammy. Needed it for work. But I did think I was the bees' knees as not many women were drivers/car owners then.

I want to see first motorbikes too, please!
.
I don't think any photos of my first 100cc motorbike (in Germany) have survived, but here is a photo of me on my 250cc BSA C10 motorbike in the UK in 1963, loaded ready to go camping & scuba diving in Dorset and with my Mum looking worried in the background.
Are you Superman Bill with those laser eyes?
Hi, Bill's mum!
I like how motorbikes basically look the same now as they did then. The only thing that really looks all that dated is the registration plate.

My bird (later my wife) on my James 200cc in about 1962.
Aw! What colour was the bike?
It's actually quite a good place to have the registration plate.
Black with a white tank as it happens!
And here's me of the same vintage.
Excellent hair. And I really hope you had something in your pocket.
