My son plays it and I have had a go too. Ping Pong is such a cool name for a game.
Trad , is when Irish or other folky people gather round a few pints of the black stuff and let loose with the fiddles.

I have one of those nets you're supposed to attach to your normal dining table. Never actually use it though.
I did evening classes when I was young and learned all sorts of shots and spins. Was never much good though.
Anyone remember Chester Barnes? He was the top British player in the 1970s and I saw him at an exhibition match once.
Nowadays it's all Chinese though isn't it? Incredible the shots they can do from so far away from the table.

He was, in the 80s & 90s, assistant to champion racehorse trainer Martin Pipe.
He still works for the stable, now run by Martin Pipe's son, David although the official assistant trainer now is Martin Pipe himself. Chester Barnes now describes himself as "assistant to the assistant trainer":
