I liked this when it came out because of the dance and tribal combo. If it wasn't for KLF I don't think I would have got in to rave and jungle. Around the year that came out me and my mates used to go up to ice cream vans and ask for fake products. "Can I have a Ponka Lol please?" "Can I have a Lawnmower Lick please?". They would always say they have never heard of it but will check with their supplier to see if they can stock them.
Granted we were tossers but it kept us entertained and least we wern't stabbing anyone. A mate stabbed me in the arm with the flake from a 99 once but it just crumbled on my jacket.

Isn't the decline to do more with the fact that comedy doesn't really excite nowadays? Culturally everybody yammers on about Game of Thrones, the Marvel and DC Cinematic and TV universes etc. Comedy feels like a tiny niche market. I can't remember the last time I talked to anybody at work about a sitcom or sketch show, which is what we all came here to discuss in the early pioneer days.
Or could it be that there isn't really any new comedy on the telly nowadays. Just reshowing old stuff.

Although I think the new forums have lost their peculiar British charm, they're a lot easier to read on my phone now.
Moving on, message boards, in general, are in decline and have been for years. I'm not aware of any which have got busier since the rise of social media. So it's not a surprise the forums are quiet compared to yesteryear.

I think that you're right. I sound a complete (boring) dinosaur when I wax lyrical about comedy these days.

OK, I've ventured onto the new site for the first time this afternoon, here are my thoughts:
I don't really like the navigation whilst using the browser version on my laptop; I keep getting confused! It seems rather large and looming to me. HOWEVER ...
Switching to my Samsung S6 (Android smartphone fact fans!) it's really rather good. As someone who tends to log onto the browser version for a good read and to be able to chip in here and there I think that I could get used to it after a while. The reasons I have for using the BCG forums is that many of the people that I know IRL don't know what the hell I'm on about most of the time, so being able to prattle on about an obscure comedy from the 90s is a blessing for me.
Oh gawd, now I want to go and see Roper on Twitter too.
I miss David Smith.
Whatever you do, don't say their names three times!
