Oh dear.......I wonder why some people cannot eat them to the extent that they could even die......I love my Salted Roasted Peanuts.
Not Dry Roasted ones though!

They cause more deaths than any other food allergy. My mother went to a Christmas party and her co-worker's husband asked the caterer if the chicken strips were friend in peanut oil. He was told that they weren't and a few minutes later he was dead. The party was almost next door to a hospital.
My allergy is mild and I grew up on peanut butter sandwiches. But I've cut them out completely because I get a stomach ache and my eyes swell shut. Nothing that some antihistamine doesn't fix, but why take chances?
Awh damn, Randy. I'd bet you'd love to eat nuts as well.

Oh dear..........like I say, why do some people react like that and others, like me, can gorge on them and not be affected - very odd.
But while we are on American snacks Dabutt, I am wondering if you can help me identify one that I used to enjoy in the late 60s early 70s that some American GIs used to get off one of the local USAF bases................
It was like pork scratchings, if you know what they are (?) but it was small strips of bacon that had been cooked in a very high heat oil and so exploded, leaving you with like these "puffs" of bacon - bloody delicious!!
I wish I could find out what they were - the nearest we have to it over here is "bacon" puff snacks made out of corn, which clearly are not the same by a long chalk.

I think they're called pork rinds? Most supermarkets sell them

Oh, I can eat nuts. Just not peanuts.

I'd always assumed that pork rinds and your scratchings were the same thing, but maybe I'm wrong. They aren't very popular snacks in most states, but we have a large Mexican population and they love them. They call them chicharrónes.
They aren't really bacon-flavored, though. Maybe want you want is something like this?

Works BBQ tonight and it's been scourching all week but ten minutes before the BBQ started it starts pouring down and doesn't stop. Bloody typical.
I've not eaten red meat for about 3 months so decided to pig out and had two cheese burgers and two hot dogs. I was stuffed and will have to take an extra long run tomorrow.

As a Texan guest on a British forum, I will refrain from reminding you that it ain't BBQ if it wasn't smoked for several hours.
Oops...
Real BBQ looks something like this:
Now that is a proper BBQ The crinkle cut gherkins gives it an almost pornographic slant.

I would have my way with it if nobody was looking.
Brisket, sausage, ribs, potato salad, cream corn, white bread, pickles, jalapenos = heaven.
Three of my neighbors have expensive smokers and they love to have competitions to see who can make the best BBQ. Everyone wins when it comes to tasting it.
The neighbor next door smoked a large turkey a few days ago that was simply amazing. I can't wait until he gets back from Alaska and cooks more stuff; I love it when my doorbell rings and there's a plate of BBQ waiting.

Hmmm, thanks for that sooty, but they look like a more refined pork scratchings, that is without the warts and hairs.
They're more like porkified quavers if that makes sense?
Personally I prefer proper scratching, apart from the bits of liquified fat.
There's something quite unpleasant about that.
These fellas are pork rinds,
