Have Pointless got it wrong again?

Just watched tonight's Celeb one - the question was 1990s Actor Oscar winners. They offered Jodie Foster, but were told it was wrong as she is an actress...................I thought the new thinking was that they are all actors so as not to be sexist?

Because in the Oscars they have specific different categories of best actor and best actress. So a woman can't win a best actor Oscar.

OK, but it depends on how the question is set. If you say which actor won an Oscar or which won the Oscar for best actor, but I can't remember how it was worded - having said that, the two celebs were equally perplexed at it not being allowed.
Changing the meaning of words just causes confusion in my eyes, so why not leave it as it was - does it really matter if you say someone is an actress?

Not to you! But evidently it does matter to a lot of other people. And to be fair, it probably means more to those people than 'it confused me a bit while I was watching a game show'. So it'd be nicer to just go with it rather than stubbornly refusing for no real reason.

Still, if you want to keep saying actress then just do it! But stop flipping moaning about it. ;)

"it confused me a bit while I was watching a game show"

As I said the celebs were too, so I am not alone.

Still, if you want to keep saying actress then just do it! But stop flipping moaning about it.

Yes, and very good it was too with some interesting trivia, such as it being adapted from Eric Chappell's "The Banana Box" play and that Paul Jones played "Alan" as they wanted someone famous at the time in that part.

I wonder why Frances de la Tour wasn't in it/interviewed.

Am Watching the second part.

Shit! Forgot there was a second part to it. Luckily you reminded me in time to record it on ITV3 +1. Thanks, guys! :)

I was watching the Rising Damp ep Stand Up and Be Counted on itv3 the other day

The makers were ordered to delete all copies of that ep in a court case brought by a MP who claimed it slandered him

Did itv forget this I wonder, and have they broken the law by airing it?!

I've been watching various movies based on 70s brit sitcoms. Theres a curious fascination to be had with these things. They fall between the very good(Steptoe, Likely Lads, Porridge) to the atrocious(Are You Being Served). Rising Damp is in genre alone as it is rather flat and lacks the claustrophobic nature of the TV show and is grim for all the wrong reasons. Strangely I want to dislike the On The Buses movies(knowing they are tat) but find them compelling in way that most modern hollywood "comedies" never could.
