What are you listening to now? Page 1,237

The Monkees - Headquarters.

Randy Scouse Git - named after Til Death but renamed "Alternate Title".

Another Charity Shop vinyl purchase although unfortunately there's no cover.

Just listened to a couple of Shadows albums but now I'm listening to possibly my favourite album ever.

Low Life by New Order. It is just so wonderful. Love the sounds, Hooky's bass especially. I love every track.

The new Wonder Stuff album 30 Goes Around the Sun, absolutely top notch stuff which harks back to the sound they had on their second album Hup which is fine by me as I thought the last three where just alright.
Currently reading Miles Hunts diaries as well, well worth a read if you like the band

Been listening to a few Mountain albums as I bought the 5 CD set.

Climbing, Nantucket Sleighride and Flowers of Evil.

Vote Relieve. :)

Morrisey - everydays like Sunday

Side by Side from the album Do it For Free by a band called the Constellations from Georgia, the only way I can describe this is if the Commitments had been brought up listening to a variety of light hip hop, the Allman Brothers and Lynrd Skynrd

http://youtu.be/oIkrXqie97k Not very hip hop that one but this one is a bit more that way inclined and also includes one of the finest white man afros you're ever likely to see

Felicia, the second one, is great - love the video. It has the Lynx effect. The chorus reminds me of another, more famous song, with the group vocals sound. Anyone know what it might be?

Was trying to find a 70s Rock freebie cd last night, and stumbled on this one instead, Ace Records -

Eurovision runners-up in 2014 (Holland). That surprised me.

Yes - me too GK. I heard it on Toni Arthur's son Tim's programme this morning. Not a big fan of his but BBC R London was on and he mentioned their background. I like your soul album in the previous post. They don't make many of them like that now but Charles Bradley is back with an album and tour. Here's the Black Sabbath cover:

Just in case I've posted that one before, here's another from the new LP:

I've been listening to the No Rain album by Blind Melon recently for the first time in about 15 years and all the words came flooding back. Shannon Hoon was an incredible vocalist.

Also a lot of Eva Cassidy in particular People Get Ready, Autumn Leaves and Time Is A Healer. Time Is A Healer starts sombre but ends with jazz inspired scat singing in a joyful conclusion. She's an inspiration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVF2JwArc8c

I like her too. Only discovered her last year.

I like her too. Only discovered her last year.

I had heard her more well known stuff like Fields of Gold and Songbird when I was younger because my dad liked her but it wasn't until last year for me too when I started searching for her other interpretations on YouTube and buying up all her CDs.

I think the best webside dedicated to her is evacassidy.org which is maintained by Eva's cousin and has some unique images and facts you won't find elsewhere because Eva's cousin has obtained them directly from her family. The FAQ is an oportunity for visitors to the website to ask questions about her life. For example someone asked what her dad's favourite track is that Eva did so her cousin asked him and responded with the answer - Wayfaring Stranger. I can see why and I find it very comforting that even today her fans can ask her family questions and post messages in the guestbook that her parents frequently read.

There is also a striking image of her in one of the albums on holiday with her trousers rolled up proudly showing a collection of pebbles she has collected at the seaside. It melts my heart. Her cousin goes to great pains to request people don't right click and "save as" all of the images which I really want to do but I refrain. No-one else would know but I would.

Glad you like it, there's another version of the Felicia video that's doing the round somewhere from the indie release of their first album (Southern Gothic) that just has the singer making out he's a photographer and taking photos of loads of women in bikinis in a studio.

There's another cracking song they've done called Afterparty where the video is supposed to show the last few minutes on earth before its wiped out by an asteroid which is really funny but incredibly raunchy to as there are some ladies in the nuddie with their shirt potatoes out.
