RIP Cliff Michelmore

Who? I maybe hear you cry.

A BBC legend who was the face and voice of 1950s/1960s radio and television of my childhood and youth. Before the telly we had Two Way Family Favourites on the radio and that is where he "met" his wife Jean Metcalfe, saying it was "love at first hearing", but he'll be mostly remembered for the ground breaking "Tonight" show that used to go out I seem to remember at about 6.45pm every weekday night and made the names of Fyfe Robinson and Alan Whicker - a precursor of the One Show, but far more interesting!

He died aged 96 - what a good age.

Wasn't he also on Tomorrow's World or am I getting confused? I'm sure there was some scientific programme he was involved in.

No, he went on to present a holiday programme; but at least someone else remembers him! :D

I remember him too, he was much younger than I thought he was.

It was probably the comb-over. He patented it you know.
