Just listening to strawberry fields forever

Good song

But the lyrics are total arse gravy

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right
That is I think it's not too bad
Let me take you down, cos I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Always, no sometimes, think it's me
But you know I know when it's a dream
I think I know I mean a "Yes" but it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree
Let me take you down, cos I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about

Wtf were they sniffin??

They talked about how it was recorded and then re-edited on that Music Moguls series a few months ago. George Martin had to slow down the opening to match another take that Lennon wanted to combine it with, so his vocals sound spacier than usual.

I think you'll find the issue is more wide spread. John Lennon was very found of "nonsense lyrics". He use to beat his wife and sing give peace a chance. What did he stand for ? He stood for nonsense and that's what he mostly sang about.

Paul however did have something to say, but his lyrics include "radio playing a danceable dude, cattle beware of snipers" and "I feel like the inside of a dustbin lid" (whatever that feels like). Great music thought.

Strawberry fields was a field in Liverpool they use to play in as kids - I think that's as deep as it gets.

I wonder who is going to be the guest vocalist for the rest of the tour. Maybe Maltese/Swiss shouter Marc Storace (singer of Swiss hardrock band Krokus)? He was a possible candidate to replace Bon Scott in 1980, maybe this could be another opportunity for him.

"Shortly after AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott's death in 1980, Marc was offered to audition for the vacancy in the band, but he turned it down because things were going extremely well at the time for Krokus.[2][3] He also claimed that, besides his feelings of loyalty to his mates, he felt his band was going to continue to get bigger."

I was thinking the same thing. And there are probably a lot of AC/DC tribute band singers who could do the job.

So no chance of a Geordie reunion then.

We spoke about him a while ago. I picked up the album this was featured on in a Charity Shop recently and playing it now. Very Radio Jingley!

Great vocal impression, and pretty good make-up/hair etc.

Never got tired of his anecdotes though - could listen to him all day.

(Though I know the sketch isn't that simplistic, and it's a surreal juxtaposition.)
