Jimmy Carr Page 2

I like Jimmy Carr in small doses. I've tried watching his DVDs and I find it hard going after half an hour. From what I remember, there's a lot of one liners whereas I prefer a few stories sprinkled throughout.

Me too. I like most of his stuff on panel shows (maybe, because it's scripted by other people), but I couldn't even get through 5 min. of his latest show.

Got tickets for Jimmy in October. Can't wait!

I like him as a TV host, but his stand-up stuff is just so terrible.

Went to watch Jimmy last night. One word - brilliant! He was on top form, will definitely be going to see him again in 2016.

Is the Netfilx special he recorded part of his Greatest Hits tour?

I must admit I find it hard to like the person who made the joke once that the best way to get a homosexual to sleep with a woman is to take a shit in her vagina.

I'm with Chappers on that. Awesome. The 'red wine with fish' should've got him a knighthood, but I said that on another thread.
Jimmy Carr's hilarious... It's like Andrew Dice Clay. People go and see him and say, I was offended. Well if you're easily offended, why go and see that kind of comic? It's like watching a porno and saying, 'Not much plot or characterisation; in fact take the sex out and there's precious little going on at all. What a disappointment.'
I went on a porn forum too. It said, Some threads may be sticky.

Yeah I guess that is true. It is just Jimmy's humour is so vulgar you'd swear he was American.

F**king Hell, someone agrees with me. I better lower my standards a tad.
It's interesting that people find Jimmy's Monkhouseque gag-gag-gag approach tiresome. That's what I like about him. As I said in another thread, I'm tired of all the waffle - 'Yo gang, I gotta noo boyfriend, it's going okay, sometimes we argue' etc etc. Just get to the jokes, Dad.
Anyway, it's all down to personal taste. (This is English for I'm right.)

Did he not also call the Pope king of the paedos?

I saw Jimmy Carr on, Would I Lie To You? His laugh was most unusual, like a braying donkey and just as loud and snorty.

In my humble opinion, the 'line' can be blurred when it comes to what exactly IS going too far, so a formula is what I use instead.

If it's more offensive or disgusting than funny, it's not worth doing. We can laugh purely out of shock, but that doesn't make it funny.

He is very likeable as a host on 'Cats' etc. but his stand-up material can make him come across as a bigot and misogynist.

Put it this way - if I had dated him without seeing his stand-up act, then saw his stand-up act, he wouldn't be seeing any of my lying-down act.
