There's a similar joke about a door in a field, but I can't remember it.

It'd take too long to explain Lee.

AIR SHOW!
yes...but an airshow viewed from outside the airfield is about as good as leaning against the wall of the cinema with a glass to your ear.
its a joke that relies on people having no idea what an airshow is like...which is fine, but also why i didn't get it.

I'm sure they're many types of air show. I used to regularly see the red arrows fly over and others.
no doubt, without getting too geeky about it. somewhere like farnbourgh the jets will do low passes and turns for the benefit of the crowd at the venue, the helicopters and VTOL planes will perform over the runway.....and there will be 10 times as many planes on the ground to walk round as there are in the air.
if i got to farnbrough and the gates were shut...I'd go home rather than glimpse a jet through the trees every now and then.
as i said....the joke relyes on the premise you dont need to be in the venue (although in the gag the venue is full so it seems even they thought a ticket was worthwhile!)

MLewis. You ARE getting to geeky about it.
I think we have a plane spotter in our mitts!

Are you f**king mental or what?
They fly overhead in the sky!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe MLewis has a craned neck Dave & can not see them in the sky.
But what if it was a really big fence and the planes flew very low?
