Just seen it and thought that it was great. The highlights for me were Pat's 1980s Christmas hit (complete with Ford Escort) and Billy Bragg's rendition of 'Wonderful Christmas Time'

Last one not as good as the other 2, but Billy Bragg was very funny. I think the greatest compliment I could give it was by the end I forgot I was watching a pisstake of Genesis, and thought of them as individual characters.

I've now changed my opinion slightly, and would now say that on the whole it deliberately avoided taking the piss out of Genesis/prog. It was as if the programme-makers wanted to spoof the documentary process and the music business in general, but get away from the trend of mocking prog itself; and about time too, it's now very boring to hear people say prog is boring.
Not sure about the Mexican stereotype, that was a bit Top Gear.

I guess the argument would be that this is the sort of talentless national cliche that a Real World style label boss would ship over to work with, so it's ultimately satirising him. But, you know, most of it is still funny accents, which grates a wee bit...but then again the "Hhessoooss" gag in this week's ep was really funny.
I also liked the 'Crosby, Stills and Nash' estate agents gag.
Vic and Bob are brilliant in this.

Very enjoyable. Everything Bellamy's Britain (or whatever it was called) failed to be. Lots of highlights but I loved the version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. And the racist cover of Chinese Whispers was very good.
Plus nice to be reminded that there was once a handsome young slim Morrisey.

I respectfully disagree. I like them (both generally and as Mulligan & O'Hare), but they stuck out like a sore thumb in the mockumentary format of Brian Pern. Completely out of place.
The show overall is brilliant though. I hope they'll do another series.
Did anyone see the 'Tribute' programme? As brilliant as ever (and I haven't laughed as hard as I did when I saw the Peter Davison bit for a long time)
I think I enjoyed the tribute show better than the mockumentary. There wasn't that much for Thotch to do really. Sheer class.
I still haven't got round to watching this at all yet! A friend of mine recommended it, but do you think I should start with the first series? Might sound like an obvious question, but sometimes shows only really hit their stride later on I think,

No, it was gold from the start. More to the point, it lays down a lot of Pern-lore that it would really be useful for you to know in order to get the most from the recent tribute episode.
