The consolidated freelance writers thread

What about thread for the many freelancers on this forum? (Okay, they're aren't that many but this thread might be useful?)

No wish to be a freelancer, eh Steve?

So, where can one freelance then?
Is it just Elance or are there other places?

'Fraid you have missed the boat if you want to freelance at Elance, they've folded. Most people have gone to Upwork (formerly ODesk).
There are many other sites such as Guru, Freelancer and so on. You can apply for jobs on Craigslist or Gumtree, but there's less guarantee that you will paid (bugger all to nothing). But you can also set up your own website, as Sootyj and Swertyd have done.

There's also Gumtree, People Per Hour (who now have a TV ad for some reasons), Guru, Freelancer, Speedlancer (which sounds like a site for dealing with boils at speed) and iwriter but I've no idea how that works.

The only site that real works is Upwork and persistence these days.

Does anyone know about BuzzBundle? There's a job which requires an expert in it. Is it like creating BuzzFeed like content?

Well BuzzBundle appears to be a bit of software that tracks various social media platforms for mentions of a brand and things associated - so that that brand can target communications.
So I guess a writers job might be to create content that can be 'fed' to these potential customers.

?

There's also Great Content which requires writers for blog posts, articles and product descriptions for websites.
It's not a bidding set-up like many freelance sites. Instead, there's a "pool" of article/blog post/product description briefs which writers can choose from.

Thanks.

There now seems an influx of people wanting personal assistants at entry level. And these seem to be big companies.

At two pence a word though. That's not so good.

Update: London Taxis seem to be looking for a blogger with some knowledge.

Update 2: It seems Upwork may be going the same way as Elance?
