Well known actors playing real people. Page 2

Oh indeed, 100% - I make Mr TBN dressed up as Norman Lamont.

Or like the husband who gets his wife to wear a paper bag on her head and she has to ask him who she is going to be that night. Rolling eyes

Can't end this thread without mentioning Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher - superb. There's a reason she's had 19 Oscar nominations. Also Tracy Ulman's not too shabby, she has range. Contrast that with John Wayne being anything but a Cowboy (the same one each time).

I've just seen an ad for a new TV series starting soon. It's one of those mini series biopic things. In this case about a well Australian presenter.

The part of presenter is going to played by a well known actor. I'm sure they will do a good job but thing is they look a bit like themselves and sound like themselves- Not sure if I'm going to be able to watch it and forget that. The presenter they are portraying is really well known here so I think there would still be that feeling of watching someone else but I'm wondering if would have been better to use a unknown actor.

Does anyone else have trouble been convinced if watching a well known actor portray a well known person?

Are you talking about Molly?

Yea.

I've seen a trailer and he looks like a young Molly.
Since he's mixed with so many well known celebs it will be interesting to see how they cast them as well.
Prince Charles for instance :)

Yes. I don't remember Countdown- I'm not sure it was even still on when I was born. I have seen footage of it over the years. I think there will be lots of stating who is meant to be who. I did get the Prince Charles one without the prompt though.

It's still on practically every day here.

Does meta stuff count? I love Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li both had their first big breakout hit film role playing real life kung fu master Wong Fei Hung (Chan in Drunken Master and Li in Once Upon A Time In China).

By my count Jet Li has played at least five different real life kung fu masters.

Steve Coogan is playing Stan Laurel in a new film. I can't quite picture it.

This was not the quiz show. It was a music programme. I think it was a bit like Top Of The Pops.
There is a Australian version of the quiz show- I think it's called Letters And Numbers.

Letters and numbers is Countdown, I saw an episode the other day.
As for Molly I think as long as he keeps his hat on it will look like him.
