Well known actors playing real people.

I've just seen an ad for a new TV series starting soon. It's one of those mini series biopic things. In this case about a well Australian presenter.

The part of presenter is going to played by a well known actor. I'm sure they will do a good job but thing is they look a bit like themselves and sound like themselves- Not sure if I'm going to be able to watch it and forget that. The presenter they are portraying is really well known here so I think there would still be that feeling of watching someone else but I'm wondering if would have been better to use a unknown actor.

Does anyone else have trouble been convinced if watching a well known actor portray a well known person?

If it's good, I tend to forget about who I'm supposed to be watching and just enjoy the story. Sometimes though they can be like a caricature and it's too distracting.

Seen Damned United Reds? Half hour in I thought it was Cloughy. :O

Presume you mean "The Damned United", and yes, Michael Sheen has an uncanny knack of being able to take on the persona of just about anybody with incredible accuracy - David Frost, Kenneth Williams are two others that come to mind.

I'm up for a Golden Ball.

So the rumour goes.

I too admire Michael Sheen's talent and often wonder why Kate Beckinsale left him? MS was quite gushy in the recent Sir Stephen Fry documentary.

Oh indeed, 100% - I make Mr TBN dressed up as Norman Lamont.

Not Jeffrey Holland then?
