Quick visual sketch

INTERIOR. FUNERAL HOME. WAKE.

THE CAMERA MOVES SLOWLY UP AISLE SHOWING MOURNERS FACING AN OPEN METAL CASKET.

SUDDENLY ULTRA VIOLET LIGHTS UP IN CASKET REVEALING IT TO BE A LIE-DOWN DOUBLE SUNBED COMPLETE WITH TANNED AND PEROXIDE BLONDE FEMALE CORPSE.

It's what she would have wanted.

Didn't find it funny I'm afraid.

BTW, the scene heading should be INT. FUNERAL HOME - DAY (or NIGHT). Mention that it's a wake in the scene description.

No problem. Thanks for replying.

Nice idea, if this were a scene in a sitcom, with the context of a character who is known to the audience it could be really funny.

As a stand-alone sketch without any context somewhat less so.

Ooh that's good, I like that. I don't think it needs any back story at all, for a quick sketch I think it works really well, even if you don't know someone like that personally everyone knows of the perma-tanned bleached blonde type.

Agread. If it was Lilo Lill or Madge off Benidorm.

I don't know if it might work better then other way around?

ie, something like:

INT. TANNING SALON - DAY

A peroxide blonde lies in a tanning booth, basked in the glow of the UV light.

The light intensifies, her skins begins to smoulder. The smoke gets thicker.

Suddenly, she BURSTS INTO FLAMES. We zoom out and see we are actually in -

INT. CHURCH - CONTINUOUS

Through the thick black smoke we see the pew, the vicar, crucified Christ.

Moving back, we see the first row of the congregation, all dressed in black.

From the front, we see everyone is dressed in black, many crying.

Obviously, that was written very quickly, but might be another way to approach the same scene?
