Come-back sitcoms - which ones would work? Page 3

Still Open All Hours was ok I just didn't like the idea of Granville turning into Arkwright. No way living with his uncle all those years would he have turned out exactly like him. I thought Johnny Vegas was very good in it and I actually liked Stephanie Cole and Tim Healy in it.

Liking the love for Early Doors on this thread!

Whatever happened next to the likely lads?

Well Terry went and joined the police and talks to his dead wife.

I would add my support behind Early Doors, though I am not sure it's been away long enough to count as a come back. I thought the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin worked well as the noughties update 'Reggie Perrin' starring Martin Clunes. David Nobbs (RIP) got some help from Steven Nye, which may explain why it vaulted the generations. As a rule, I would say that classic sitcoms draw something essential from the time they were created, and often, find the writer at their peak. This may be why revivals don't generally cut it. I am minded of David Badiel's sketch about Mrs Slocome and her dripping pussy. In the 70s this was an innuendo. By the 90's it just sounded f*!king rude!
