Serious question; how would you refer to someone who was good at DIY in the past? There are dfferent versions online, I'd like to know what you would put.
I am thinking DIY-er.

How far are you going back? Shed built is a common one for a handy-man's work - there you go...............Handyman/Handiman

Don't really know much about it but maybe former DIY-er?

Did you mean one person who was good at DIY in the past and now doesn't do any, or did you mean all the people who did it themselves long ago and if so how long ago.

Tinkerer
Odd-job-man

In practice a lot more people did their own stuff in earlier days, except really specialist stuff for which there was the Apprentice -> Journeyman -> Craftsman -> Master Craftsman training progression.

Thank you everyone. I'm going back about 20 years so I think I will plump for former DIY-er.

Was in Aldi and saw 'Pig's cheeks in red wine sauce'. I managed not to be sick on the floor. Who eats that kind of stuff? My son wanted to know which end the cheeks came from.

Isn't there a French dish which translates as 'The temptation of St Sebastian' or something, which is basically a pig's head full of stuff?
