Just seen the New York Dolls on Sounds of the 70s Part 2....................what a load of posing talentless twats and as for the lead singer trying to be a poor man's Mick Jagger, well words fail me - he couldn't sing himself out of a paper bag.

Utter bollocks.

Anyone who can't dig this song should check their pulse.

I flew to London with my daughter and her friend in 2004 and we had tickets to see the reformed Dolls, but due to a date miscalculation we wound up skipping the show. I was sad to miss the gig, but years later it was released on DVD.

They're not bad, but why slum it ? Treat yourself to The Clash. Any, here's Train in Vain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYkQK8QsQ2w

As am I George and I too saw them live in the Spring of 1963 when they were second billing to Roy Orbison, who I primarily went to see. By the time the tour got going though The Beatles were just starting to go meteoric, nevertheless they closed the first half with RO closing the show, and I remember you literally could not hear The Beatles as the screaming was incessant from the moment they came on. Absolute madness, but a night I will never forget. Cool

I read the first four words as "As I am George" and didn't bother reading the rest. Half expected you would suddenly do a rendition of "My Sweet Lord" while cooking a curry and pruning the rosebush as a multi-task.

One of my favourites. Shame that they didn't list on the original album! It's the best one on that side.

It was added to LC at the last minute

It was only gonna be a B side on one of the singles but I think it was Joe that said it must go on the album as it was far too good

Good call Mr S!

Interesting - and a very good call! :)

This version's a bit different from the original one.

Autoplay led me to some nice choons after too. :)

It all depends on what you want from your music.

For instance I really find Roy Orbison whiningly annoying.

Stone Roses have put posters around Manchester, apparently they've got a big announcement sometime today. See http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/what-stone-roses-going-announce-6752500

Any ideas what it is ? Hope it isn't more 80's revival band wangon stuff. I'm hopeing Brown's marrying Amy Whinehouse (retrospectively) now that would be a good "mash up".

The third coming hopefully !

Ah it's just some new gigs

Don't cry, at least you'll get a new Phil Collins album.

At least someone who can sing and not trying to be summat they are clearly not.

The The's Matt Johnson and Yello's Boris Blank.

Posted this on the Jonathan Ross thread, but have deleted as it seemed to be lost:-

On the last prog. - Elvis Costello playing Elvis Presley's guitar while Pricilla Presley looks on - never thought I would see that happen.
