But you have a right to privacy... ie... you have a right to walk down the street witout someone monitoring your movements and noting you behaviour for later reference...
Would you like to think that, lets say, your husband could call up a database and track your movements...

For me it's a convenient shorthand which neatly expresses a *relatively* long-winded principle. As long as the meaning is understood - and I can't see how it could be misunderstood - I don't see the problem. Maybe because I've never come across a lot of prejudice against deaf people. I suppose there is. But because the *expression* itself does not inherently convey prejudice (again, signifier/signified) I don't see that much of a problem using it. As I say, I think it's more of a PC thing, as discussed here:

I understand that the discourse in deaf culture in that link is irrelevant.
I think it's similar to the expression "magical negro" in that the choice of language is not meant as a slur but as an aid to meaning.
