Anyone ever try writing funny books?

It's a tricky business but has anyone tried or are currently writing one?

I'd love to hear your insights if you've ever tackled it

I'm currently writing one and it's going pretty well I think, I'm trying to do it so it reads like a sitcom episode.

Would be great to meet other people who are doing the same thing

It's a good idea - there aren't enough funny books

I'm writing a parody of The Witcher book series entitled The Wanderer.

I'm finding the creative side of things rather fulfilling and enjoyable.

I'm planning to do NaNo this year so may try a "funny" book.

Weren't you doing one a while back Chappers - Have you sacked that off now?

Since he often does NaNo that may have been a previous funny book.

I start things and never finish them. No discipline.

I'm a bit the same.
I...oh - hang on...

I stopped reading this forum page yonks ago

Me too, hence my seventeen or so blogs.

I've started more than one funny book. Trouble is I'm much better at writing passages than anything cohesive enough to actually resemble a novel.

Maybe I should write picture books.

Mine is starting to get good now. I'm really quite proud of it - will post in critique or showcase when it's ready

You're not alone in that.

Katie Price has given more pleasure with her passages than she ever has with her novels

I have three currently available at Amazon BAMBOOZLES1 Vol 2 & Vol 3.Also Ginsberg India &
ZNOOT COMIX . They may not teach you much but they will raise a smile. Wave

Hi Davey,

I've got as far as finishing a mystery-comedy novel (The Investigations of the Para-Usual) and trying out on Inkshares, a crowdfunding-publisher viewable at http://bit.ly/1PufWCK). Interesting that you're following a sitcom structure. I used the Three Act film structure as a framework.

P.S. Rood Eye remarks that 'Katie Price has given more pleasure with her passages than she ever has with her novels'. Good point, but she's also had her knockers.
