Sorry I did not like this one (did not have time to read the others posts). I thought it was racist and can't see it making it on a television.

I fail to see what you find funny.

I knew I should of got Jake How in here earlier. Why is it that when it comes to these sort of subjects on a comedy writers' forum that many people seem to have to show everyone how 'OK' they are with those of different races and creeds. Why do they have to go to such lengths?

Mm, great lengths like spending a few minutes at the keyboard. I'm insane. I'm fatigued. I've really overstretched myself this time. Nurse!

The sketch, in my eyes, is a comment on a policy. Just in the same way you would take a sketch on drugs or gambling policy to a ludicrous extreme the writer has done so here. You may not agree with the view, I don't, but this McCarthite labelling of racist is ridiculous. Untill Up4it pisses in a bowl of meat and feeds it to his black cleaner I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

I believe I've already said that the racism is no doubt unintentional. I still think the sketch is racist. I think your defence of it is more absurd than any anti-racism sentiment people express.

I agree with you to a point that people are eager to point the finger lest they be accused themselves, often inappropriately, but that does not stop me being genuinely appalled at the sketch and more by the many off-colour defences of it.

You're entitled to your opinion but that doesn't mean that, once again, it's not a crock of shite.
:P

It never fails to astound me, the over reaction by some, of sketches posted here.
Can we just not have a rule, by where you like it, or you do not.
It is awful to be labeled a racist when you most certainly are not. It was a f**king sketch. It was not IMO racist. The best way to know for sure, is to ask a person who is of that ethnic origin. I did & he did not consider it racist at all.

I spoke to an Indian friend to see what he thought of it.

He said "I am not finding this racist. Thank you, come again."

Incorrect.

Well I found it hideously racist, I nearly dropped my haggis in disgust.

Actually, I just thought it wasn't funny, to be honest. Felt kind of contrived. Sorry.

Why remove the thing, only....Errr....Errr... oh who is it????... errr... does that.

Anyway I think there have been enough rood comments on this thread, Give the rag heads, spics, waps, grease balls, honkies, pinko's and niggers a break, when us martians arrive ,thats when they are gonna know what a fukkin effnick stress is..

Oh! Should we just ask you then?

I did and he said it was, where does that leave us?

Between a rock & a hard place. Bagsy I have the hard place.

Hmm, back when I did equal ops policy it seemed to depend on two areas.

1 Is an individual offended, yes or no. E.g. if you have 50 staff and one is offended go with that one.

2 It is upto managers to foster a none prejudicial environment. E.g. if you think something is racist etc, deal with the issue, don't wait for the complaint.

This is why I think many Black people find equal ops quite disempowering. Don't get me started on mentoring, and institutional racism.

The problem is the pressure if you are in a minority to be a good sport and laugh along with every one else. There's nothing nastier, than being told you're party of the gang, we like you (wouldn't want you dating my sister), so don't complain when we insult you. Or even your ok, not like those other Muslims.

Also this is a big fuss, about what one person thought was funny. If it was a crime to be unfunny, or make tasteless jokes I'd have been in prison years ago. And for the final time of saying, if I see a joke as racist, it doesn't mean I view the comedian as racist. To not separate the two is quite a scary thing.

I'm not THAT bothered by it - each to their own. Sort of. At this level, anyway. I'm not too happy at being singled out twice for criticism for having the audacity to a) vigorously disagree with what I see as racist sentiment, and b) not find the sketch funny because I find it deals with its subject clumsily.
*Shrugs*

I was not signaling anyone out James. I would hate for you to think that.
I just think it is a shame that Up4it felt the need to delete his sketch. That to me, means he is bewildered by some of the responses. That is a shame.

More like f**king disgusted! I fail to see how some of you can laugh at sketches about kids hanging themselves, yet a sketch about government policy brings about post after post calling it racist! It’s just a f**king sketch! If you want to argue about racism, start a thread of your own and let this lie.

Had I written this, I’d have removed it 50 posts ago. Does that make me rood too?

Sorry, I wasn't singling you out as singling me out.

Hey Ray, chill. People are allowed to be offended. For me, TBH I was more shocked at a couple of the reponses to the sketch than the sketch itself. I think I've made my opinions on the sketch pretty clear. I mean, it was just something the author no doubt tossed off and people shouldn't go at him like a pack of wolves for it.

I also think discussion is healthy, but as ever, this is just one of those dialogue-of-the-deaf situations where everyone seems to have to say their piece and shut up!
