Several years ago I watched one episode of a comedy on the local PBS station, I laughed until I cried! I can't remember the name of the show, the ONLY thing I remember is a bit during the show that one of the characters was driving a car with, I think, a large banana strapped onto the top. Can anyone help?

I don't have any recollection of the scene as described, but it does sound like something that could well have happened to Victor Meldrew in One Foot In The Grave?
It sounds too surreal to be One Foot. The visual jokes tended to be ordering too many gnomes, or a plant in a toilet-daft but not too surreal. Well it's a matter of opinion really.
