Yeah, saw that Nick Writing program. I think being on a mailing list or social netowrk thing for that is how I found out about the Script First thing. Does look cool (and interesting that they want you to write an adult-focussed sitcom despite being a kids channel) but must be SO competitive.
I wanted to try to write my own original sitcom first. The consensus from the few writers I know seemed to be that it's better to have an original script in the UK, and a script of an existing series in the US. Thought I'd start with my original idea first, in time for sitcommission (missed Rocliffe and writersroom due to other work) and then work towards the Nick thing in the 2nd half of the year.

That's odd. Looking at the example sitcom scripts on there they don't do that at all! It's lowercase apart from character names. Anyway as someone said if that's the only issue with your script you'll be fine.

That's a completely different format to the Bluestone 42 and Inside No.9 scripts up on the site! I give it, I'm just sticking with what I have!

Thanks!

Weren't we supposed to have heard something by now?

"The writers selected to meet with members of the judging panel will be contacted by a member of the BBC team by 19th June 2015. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, the BBC reserves the right to offer a place on the shortlist to the next best entry."

Although not long now...

"The writers selected to meet with members of the judging panel."

Remember, address as M'lud and M'lady first and then Sir or Ma'am. Don't address them as "thingy who writes for that programme I hate..."

The rejection e-mails are out...

Commiserations to all who received them but congratulations to anyone who got the good e-mail!

Rejected.

What about those of us who've got neither so far! (Fingers crossed this is a good sign and not just my e-mail server playing silly beggars)

Quite sad about this one. Right up my street and fun to do.

No rejection so far has got to be good.

Additional: -

Just received the frustrating e-mail. I made the shortlist but alas not the final 24 to go forward to the producer. Annoyed to have fallen at the final hurdle but happy at least I in some way stood out.

If you haven't received an e-mail yet you might be about to get the very good one!

I made the shortlist

Well done!

Shortlisted. Didn't get any further.

Well done to everyone who made it through!

Bah! Shortlisted but not in the 24. Memories of that first "recorded but didn't make the edit" Newsjack email.

I'd love to know how many sketches were submitted, and how many were in the shortlist.

They said in my e-mail over 1000 sketches were submitted - that's more than the average Newsjack week! From the T&C and e-mail 120 were in the longlist and 24 made it through to the producers. Alas they didn't say how many were in the shortlist but somewhere between those two numbers!
