She's like a cross between the voice of Janis Joplin and a taller version of Anastacia - although I reckon with the right material she would've been a great rock/blues singer.

Well, my hero died today.
I adore BB King. I've seen him play. Several times.
He was one of the most prodigiously talented men of the past hundred years.
He leaves behind a body of work which is quite staggering. Dozens and dozens of albums. Not a bad song among them.
I followed the coverage on the news, including the piece newsnight did on him.
It struck me that here were journalists aware that someone significant had died, but unaware what he had actually done.
The 'expert' they chose to interview was the basist of 'Kiss'.
It seems BB outlived the appreciation people had for his talents.
The man was a genius. I don't use that word lightly.
For those who don't know: BB King gave us some of the most sophisticated blends of blues and jazz the world ever heard. He took the music of his contemporaries like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker and transformed it again and again,
passing it on to modern guitar legends.
He was the musical chameleon, ever adapting. Cutting edge in the 40s and 50s, he reemerged cutting edge again in the 70s and 80s. He was still tearing up the sky with his guitar in hit collaborations with the likes of Stevie Wonder, decades after having emerged as a standard bearer for an entire musical genre.
Most today only know him as the old, fat man in a shiny blazer and bow tie, playing old 50s standards. But he was so, so much more. Remember that when Ali and Foreman had the 'Rumble in the jungle', it was BB King who headlined the accompanying concert.
To his dying day, just about all the world's top guitarists openly worshipped him. They knew why.
He also frequently played prisons, being on a plane of understanding with the inmates which was uncanny. Some of those concerts were recorded and are some of the most fierce blues performances of all times.
The man was a legend. The King of the Blues. The King of the Guitar.
Moreover his music helped me through some tough times over the years.
I'm one sombre Gussie tonight. 
But he's up there now with Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, T Bone Walker, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey, to name just a few, having the greatest session of all times. God is on drums. Ray Charles is on piano. Louis Armstrong is playing the horn. Jesus is on the mouth organ. Mahalia Jackson and Ella Fitzgerald are doing backing vocals.
One, two, a-one, two three...
So long, BB. Please save a seat for me.
