Horse, Gussie . . Get a room . .

A very fair comment. :)

Quote: Gussie Fink Nottle @ 5th May 2015, 12:16 AM BST

But the truth is that to your mind there is a measure of worthiness in 'victims' in regards to civil rights.
Muslim terrorist suspects are to you a lesser concern. So what if they're potentially innocent?

To me in fact they are of equal concern than anyone else.
The idea that we need to sympathise with someone to grant them rights makes a mockery of rights of any kind. These are precisely the games governments have been playing. Liberties and rights belong to those we hate and distrust or they belong to no one at all.
It really is that simple.

He who sets terrorist suspects at priority 500 in fact sets everyone there. For anyone who finds their public image poisoned will invariably find himself at 500, while Horseradish will reserve his support solely for the starving orphan children, should they get into trouble. :)

Government plays this game beautifully. Which parliamentary bill banned the right to demonstrate outside parliament? The Serious and Organised Crime Bill.
How a right of public gathering came to be curtailed by a bill supposedly containing laws designed for serious and organised crime is unclear.
What is clear, however, is that Horseradish would set serious and organised criminals at priority 500. And so it goes....

The right to silence was qualified by Jack Straw because only hardened lags ever used it. So went the government yarn. It was a right solely for hardened criminals who knew how to play the system. Old hands. Crooks. Organised crime. So again, priority 500, right?
Or do you like hardened professional criminals more than terrorist suspects?

They play this all the time. Much internet law is introduced to combat pornography. Priority 500 again? But the law then turns out to apply to much more material, to set worrying precedents and be applied much, much more widely.

The very fact that the authorities play such games is suspicious.
Why would they use such deceits and card tricks? It suggest they have an agenda and seek to attain their goal by hook or by crook.

But while they're doing it they'll keep playing their trump card. Priority 500.

However, you say absolutely nothing about the millions of Miss Migginses who were indeed orphans or taken to court for stealing a blouse when actually it was someone else who stole it. You are focussed on the elite end of crime - head choppers, that sort of thing - which is as much of a minority as the governing classes themselves. Joe Public - you, me, the garden gatepost - should be very wary of becoming brainwashed by the media into thinking it matters more than the other things. It's top level establishment, many of whom are crooks, playing against top level villains as defined under the law precisely so that ordinary people's concerns don't get a look in. Best left to the Notting Hill set I feel.

As a matter of interest, Gussie, are you able to say just yes or no to the following six points:

1. Britain is not about to be overrun by actual Nazi storm troopers who would operate cameras/filters.
2. Most picnics are nicer if not centrally filmed but if they were it wouldn't impact much on activities.
3. People should celebrate the fact that their robust criticism of Governments might be noted down.
4. There is no chance whatsoever of any types of adult porn being banned in the next five years.
5. Most of any monitoring undertaken is, for better and worse, undertaken by dimwits and weirdos.
6. Bus passes, GP records etc.......ALL of modern life is one long round of snooping and interference.

There is an elite end of crime? Dr No? Blofeldt? :D

But not at all. The dispossessed ASBO crowd was just as much the victim of poisoning of public perception as were other groups. Blair's supposedly feral chavs who needed bringing to heel by an obscene twisting of principles of law.
Or the mother of a dead soldier who was prosecuted for reading out the names of the fallen at the cenotaph.
The frankly bizarre 'extreme porn' law which has been running at a thousand prosecutions a year - almost entirely against your Average Joes.
And remember it's your ordinary folks who get trodden on for posting the 'wrong' twitter message. The media are safe. They have publication lawyers.

My entire point was that law is introduced on the back of your priority 500 villains. However, it ends up applying to all of us, especially your little people. That's the whole point! :)
By the time the law starts grinding, it no longer makes headlines.

You choose to be blindsided, because it's 'only elite criminals'. But merely when they establish the precedents.

Once again, consider Niemoeller's famous maxim.
To paraphrase:
'First they came for the 'elite criminals', and I did not speak out. For I was not an 'elite criminal'. Then they came for....'

Anyway, we best leave it. Before Rocker has a seizure. Angelic

p.s.
Just saw you've since added a list of points.
Forgive me if I don't add a further response, precisely to keep this shorter than it otherwise would be. I think you'd be surprised at some of my responses. ;)

But it's like economics. It doesn't trickle down.

Elites get off - even terrorists. Others don't do. Wave

Ok. If you say so, mate. :D

P.S. Hang on, how many more times are you going to re-edit that? :D

Harvey Cuffe, 14, asks Nick Clegg - 'can you kill Katie Hopkins?'

A nice story but it confirms that is the main constituency where the Establishment is working most robustly to determine the outcome. There is no doubt at all that it will significantly rig the vote there.

It's beginning to look a bit like football.
At first you've got minor clubs like West Ham doing well, but sooner or later the big clubs win out.

For all the talk of Greens, Plaids or Ukippers, reality is very much beginning to set in.

So yes, the SNP are the new kids on the block. A club that's found itself a Russian oligarch or Sheikh and begins to ascend, so to speak.

Many of the media commentariat are remarking on how the big parties are unable to shift the polls.
But what is most noteworthy is that the smaller parties, despite much greater exposure, are actually seeing not that great an impact. For they too have staid static.
So lots more airtime but eventually not much difference.

When you hear that Plaid may hope perhaps for an extra seat and the Greens are in a fight to hang on to Brighton, then perhaps the much hailed new era has not yet arrived.

True, the SNP have utterly outwitted Labour, but whether it actually will make a blind bit of difference is yet to be seen.
In fact the LibDems do now not seem to be facing quite the meltdown so many predicted.

So yes, big things are happening in Scotland. But they may well be frozen out by the other parties.
With no one else making the slightest bit of impact, it may well just be the same three parties as usual, bartering it out as to who runs the show.

So at the of end of the season, it's the big teams back at the top of the table.
Business as usual?

According to Oldrocker's odds checker, Caroline is 2/9 on to win Brighton Pavilion, Labour are at 3-1 and the Tories at 50-1. If she doesn't get elected there, I'm leaving the country and will switch every light out before I go. In fact......I want her to be the one person who is holding the balance of power.

Cheers. :D

Incidentally, Ukippers have already bagged this one so it isn't going to be a big fat zero for them -

Labour apparently have been targeting that seat quite heavily.

So what's so special about Lucas to have you frolicking like a lamb on a sunny day? I've not found her particularly impressive over the past five years.

It all started when she sat seductively on a straw bale in the Green tent at Glastonbury. Everyone else there was cross legged and just had their heads buried in Porrit. I must have asked her about 120 questions and she was kind enough to answer them all. Then Somerset and Avon turned up. She flew dramatically into the mystery that is Avalon. The no fracking stance is simply the icing on the cake.

Hey, Nessie, I'm brought to you by a politically neutral objective. I've done the revolutionary music on "Listening" so what Conservative tunes do I need to balance it up? "Land of Hope and Glory" or what?

(Ah, but that's just elite fracking. Not important. It doesn't trickle down. :D )
Sorry, couldn't resist. Open goal. :)

Anyhow, I didn't know you had a private moment with the Green one.
A romantic tete-a-tete at Glastonbury, no less.

Someone better tell the others... Who knows, you might bump into Ian Duncan Smith at Glastonbury next time, trying be a regular guy in wellies and offering people a drag of his joint. :)

Get real. I've had more oil on my backside in recent weeks than there has ever been in Texas. Plus I have been seriously manipulated. IDS would never go to Glasters but do you remember when that guy from Cameron's constituency suddenly dropped dead? He was pitched next to Caitlin Moran but she wasn't the reason. I could name the Tory ministers who were trudging through the Somerset slime on that day but I won't do as it was a total coincidence and it would change the election result.

How does the Warden put it in Dad's Army?
'What happens between you and the vicar is your own private affair.' - or some such words. :)

--

But I still think seeing IDS trying to act hip at Glastonbury would be fun.
You know, Hawaiian shirt, combat shorts, ray-bans, knotted handkerchief on his head, swigging lager out of a plastic cup and trying to talk gangsta. :)

Almost as believable as Cameron indicating political 'passion' by rolling up his shirt sleeves. ;)

The slightly weird thing is that it is my upper back which has the problems.

Still, it's best not to ask questions.

"Mix em and cook em in a pot like gumbo
Goin off on a motherf**ker like that
With a gat that's pointed at yo ass
So give it up smooth
Ain't no tellin when I'm down for a jack move
Here's a murder rap to keep yo dancin
With a crime record like Charles Manson
AK-47 is the tool
Do not underestimate the determination of a quiet man"
