May I pick your brains please?

I remember watching a British black and white film years ago and would like to know what it was. The opening scene was a guy (practical joker) on his death bed setting fire to a newspaper someone was reading next to him.
The story line was asking all his relatives to perform various 'tasks' before sharing his will.
The end of the film is the details of his estate being divided up, only with a twist.
I won't do a 'spoiler' about it as, hopefully someone might remember the title from the details above!!!!

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Brilliant.
Can't wait to get it and see it again.
Thank you! :D

It was on yesterday at 11am on Film4.

the only movie I've never seen repeated is a porn movie

This 1951 movie has a very interesting plot, considering that the main characters have been asked to commit deeds contrary to their nature in order to inherit substantial sums.
Thank you for the link, sootyj. I'm looking forward to watching this movie.
