Being in London and liking her, I did visit the Mall on that occasion. It was a unique opportunity to witness British Pagan Catholicism. I thought it was artistic and moving. Did I cry? Erm, yes, probably.

The only comparable experience I have had - and it wasn't similar at all except it was strange - was being at Jim Morrison's grave in Paris. As the photo I took reminds me, it had (still has?) an unusual mixture of beautiful flowers, beer bottles, twittering birds and graffiti, along with various heads of living people in glasses fast asleep with their heads poking outwards in various directions. The one I captured looks decapitated. Hence, a fascinating combination of life, art, death and left-wing students.
