It was (finally!) abolished in NZ about 5 years ago (No, must have been a bit earlier, it had happened before I left, so...6-7 years ago?), some of the cases leading up to that decision were fecking disgusting. No wait, make that ALL of them!
It was another great episode on Thursday; I cannot believe that it's ending after only eight episodes.
I have rented 'Queer as Folk' to compensate. I am enjoying it so far

It is sad that he's said there won't be another series of Cucumber. Eight episodes isn't enough. 
Maybe he can write a new series about some of the characters.
The latest episode was always going to struggle to top the previous weeks, but it was still very good.
They kept it very light too with only a few sad moments. I feared it was going to be a very mournful episode.
If they do a spin off then surely it has to be about Cliff? He's amazing every time he's on screen!

He slightly reminds me of somebody I dated in the past, so yes, kind of. He's very 'out there' so to speak.

YY to that - he's also good in Uncle, plus he played the title role in 'Telstar: The Joe Meek Story' which was and indeed is, a bit of an undiscovered British gem.

I would love to see more of him. I'd like to see more Freddie too, not just because he's so bloody cute, but I loved seeing the very few glimpses of the real him underneath the ego (and seeing him feel old for the first time when that boy rejected him for being over 21).

I missed most of this series and then watched ep6 the other week and had to watch most of the rest in one go.
RTD has this thing with wit, tension and naturalistic dialogue that's like real life only better.
They should find more chances for him to sprinkle star dust on things.
I'm going to have to check out Queer as Folk when I be finished Cucumber. Completely missed it at the time.
I really enjoyed Cucumber, but I never felt fully connected to most of the characters. With Queer As Folk I was invested right away, with all of them.

Yes, his dialogue is very realistic, but really unique. You can tell it's him right away.
Shame there's no more, but the series was about a particular passage in Henry's life and not a soap opera. He's found his happiness and I think it closed the book nicely.
There's a slight tinge of sadness that he didn't find it with Lance, but I suppose it wouldn't have had the impact if they'd down the old 'will they/won't they' route.
It's really sad to wave goodbye to such a talented cast and some truly brilliant plot and performances. Channel 4 is fantastic at nurturing homegrown material with a certain 'edge'. I really enjoyed Episode 8 of Cucumber and the parallel Episode 8 of Banana and it was great to have 'closure' on a number of issues.
I have now watched all of 'Queer as Folk' and yes, it's brilliant. I didn't watch it at the time, but wish that I had. I have series two to watch tomorrow and am looking forward to it.
