Songs you hate Page 2

I am not sure I can do hate as such when it comes to music. There are a lot of records that don't appeal to me. I agree with an earlier poster on Whitney Houston. Yep. Melisma is atrocious unless it is used sparingly.

The biggest criticisms are for the lack of imagination and sheer repetition so far in this century's music. It is probably inevitable that we are on generations three or four of heavy rock, indie guitars, electronica and even rap but with a few exceptions none have gone beyond, say, two generations with great inventiveness.

Folk, jazz and world music still do some interesting things on the margins but even they can seem overly taught. Proper soul and reggae have all but disappeared. Autotune invades much so that it becomes like a Cowell or R n B production. And I find it almost impossible to listen to either. I hate it because it isn't music.

We've all got 'em - ones we have to turn off when they come on the radio (or is it just me? :P ) , and this thread was inspired by my first choice that started playing when I tuned into Rock 'n Roll Sunday this afternoon.

Melting Pot - Blue Mink

I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

Honey - Bobby Goldsboro

Agree: as well as expressing some rather dodgy views it also reminds me of Alan Partridge working out in his shiny shorts.

Agree: foul pitch. Makes dogs howl. I do, however, like Whitters' other stuff.

Haven't heard the third, but recall another Gainsboro track being trite.

That.

My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion

Cleaning Out My Closet - Eminem. " Mama, I never meant to hurt you..." Horrible!

You're Not Alone - Michael Jackson. Puke!

Don't Wanna Miss A Thing - Aerosmith. Vomit!

Seven Nation Army - White Stripes, I don't hate it but think it's overrated. The White Stripes have much more interesting stuff.

Agree on all counts.

Mine are:

Hallalujah by Leonard Cohen. I was on a singing course once and the only male in the group murdered it week after week. It's an awful song anyway.

No Limit by 2 Unlimited.

There are many more, but nothing else springs to mind at the moment.

It goes beyond mawkish and then comes back again, kicking itself in the arse.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by monty f**king python

Uptown Funk-Mark Ronson

Bloody 'Lady in red'--- Chris De fooking Burgh - terrible lyrics and singing.

Torn by Natalie Umbrilia.

Country House by Blur.

Come to think of it, Sparky's Magic Piano is unnerving.

But then so in a not dissimilar way is Hotel California. :)

Uptown Funk-Mark Ronson

I'm with george on that one. The local radio station plays it every morning at about 06:50.
Seeing as it is playing on my radio alarm, it does the trick as it makes me get up to turn it off.
That songs makes me miss about 15 minutes of beauty sleep every morning :(
