One of the beliefs of Scientology is that they have the right to kill non-believers.

THE BOY SPEAKS THE TRUTH.

Unfortunately all religions have their extremists. I lived in East Grinstead for many years and curiosity landed me in Saint Hill a couple of times (I've still got a few of their books). I can't say I found anything particularly bad about Scientology but I didn't get into it deeply. The Mormons were the same distance away in the other direction, again no particular problem. Christian extremism I find very hard to tolerate (born-agains drive me nuts with the exception of one guy who was a great friend). JWs turn up here regularly, and are at least prepared to talk. I tend to collect books about different religions and from those I've looked at so far I'd personally choose buddhism, if I had to choose anything. Many (if not most) religions get a 'bad press' though, but often through the actions of their extreme practitioners. I want to take a look at Islam more closely. Also the various aspects of Hinduism. The core idea of most religions is the idea of improving the state of mind and general well-being of the 'followers'. That could start a big debate that I'm not going to attempt here!!

Buddhism is quite fluffy on the surface, but when you look into their concepts of hell it gets quite scary.

There's a fantastic mural in the Thai Buddhist temple in Wimbledon that shows some kind of hellish armageddon. Can't find a picture online but it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

To be fair, that particular "flavour" of Buddhism (which runs the Wimbledon temple) is their equivalent of Roman Catholicism (as opposed to Church of England etc). All a bit hard-line and centred around elders and so on, rather than the main teachings proper.

Is Buddism the one where you spend alot of time in secluded temples to become bullet proof monks?
