Thinking of emigrating to Canada

I found one place over there on a lakeside that had 6 bedrooms and was truly beautiful. It only cost about £130k! I'll need a job of course but I'm thinking that now is the time to think a bit differently and make a fresh start. Too much baggage over here now.

Try and persuade to leave/stay.

F**k off.

That's quite a compelling reason I must say.

It's a done deal. Laughing out loud

which part of Canada?
There's a similar prob with immigrants there too but of course, they've more room.
Be careful of the district, there's bears roaming about in some areas.
Otherwise, get gone!

Hey, get a grip. None of your sketches have been that bad...well not bad enough to merit skipping the country! :D

What part? I can tell you if there are jobs or not, plus it really depends on what you do.
p.s. I'm not sure what you mean by immigration problems'? We are the most successful country in those regards and in fact rely on immigration to fill the many jobs or low birth rate doesn't. Not picking on you or anything just wanted to make that correction. :)

I Tuumble moved to Canada wouldn't he be an immigrant? By problem do you mean getting work etc.

Not sure if the system's the same as Australia (getting sponsers & work before you get there etc)

Maybe Curt knows?

Damn! He beat me to it :D

You have to have work over there, BEFORE you go over to work. I tried when I was on my travels, and you have to go through a company and have a job ready for your arrival.

Travelling the beds of the globe, yes. Whistling nnocently

Pretty much...seems so long ago now... *day dreams*

We have a very relaxed immigration policy and even more relaxed if you are part of the Commonwealth. You can live in Canada for just about as long as you want on "Permanent Resident Card". I have friends who have lived here for more then 10 years and still just keep renewing their Permanent Resident Card every so often. In a nut shell, Canada wants immigrants especially if you are from countries like the UK.
If you want more info here's the "Citizenship and Immigration" website.
Here is the link for the Canadian Job bank: http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/
I've used it a few times, I'd rather use a private job agency though.

I don't think there's a country in the West that isn't suffering from a population imbalance because there aren't enough babies. Women are choosing careers, more and more men are becoming impotent, etc.
We need immigrants too for exactly that reason and in fact we couldn't possibly
keep going as we were before they started arriving.

I'm in graphic design, marketing and PR. I'm the writer/editor/designer of the company magazine and I'm writing a lot of articles generally these days too - I enjoy that.

I'm in the Internet industry though I'm not technical minded and I've done travel and insurance. It sounds laughable but I do a bit of life coaching on the side as well...not that I'm paid for it but I do have a qualification.

I was thinking on the East side of the country, anywhere from Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick. I know a couple of people in NB so that may be worth pursuing.

I like the snow but I don't want anything too extreme.

I've not given this a great deal of thought but it has crossed my mind a few times over the years. It's happening more often now so I've decided to do a little research. :)

Well why not!

I don't think I could move abroad. I would miss old Blighty too much.

No 'think' about it for me. I could never leave. Holidays are bad enough.
