Thank you! The three songs you picked out are all great. On first listening, "Cross Bones Style" reminds me of Sharon Van Etten; "Nude as the news" of PJ Harvey; and "He War" a combination of both. All the videos are interesting too.

Look forward to hearing those albums.

To possibly return the favour, here are a couple of things I discovered last year you might like. (Have posted them here before.)

Haley Bonar - Last War (Live on 89.3 The Current)

Saw her live a couple of months ago. She played a free gig in a really small venue (much smaller than the Troubadour) and she and her band were incredible.

Am also very taken with this album:

Angus & Julia Stone - Angus and Julia Stone (New album 2014)

Interesting links - thanks for those, GK.

Both have significant atmospherics. :)

Glad they're of interest. Rick Rubin produced the Angus and Julia Stone album, once he'd persuaded them to get back together again.

Yes, I read up on it. The vocals have an organic quality which he may have brought out. Rick Rubin is, of course, a great. There are few I'll look back on from the last 20 years and consider to have achieved more.

Aphrodite's Child - The Four Horsemen

The Essential Ten Years After.

The three versions of The Dowie Dens o' Yarrow in my collection.

My single favourite folk song - along with Willie o' Winsbury.

The Walkmen - The Rat

Strokesy.

How important is this week to fantasy football managers?

Get those cards ready.

The Troggs - Wild Thing

(And commiserations to Nick "Wild Thing" Kyrgios)

Love it ! Got the 45 somewhere.

Manfred Mann's Earthband disc from the double CD I bought the other day.

I love this song and I think Hercules and OR will too.

They've got a new album out too with Mick Jones of the Clash.

Plus this was great but Hercules - don't get distracted!

Yep, that's ok.

The only problem I have is that people in bands who stand in fields nowadays look like people in fields. In the 1970s, there were no distinctions between people in bands who stood in fields and the environment.

Venice In Peril: love it.

No 58 in 1983.

I remember it being played a lot but wouldn't have been able to name the artists.

I've seen them live - at one of Rob da Bank's festivals.
