When I think of that poor lady in Glasgow who has not only lost her daughter, but also both of her parents in that tragic event and at this time of year, it makes me think my problems are nothing..........

Yes. The added awful thing was that apparently she'd gone over to a cash machine and witnessed the whole thing. How could you ever get over that?

Just took a tour of the Ballast Point brewery in San Diego. I started with a Sculpin IPA served on nitro, followed up with a habanero Sculpin and now I'm sipping on a blackberry sour beer.

I keep meaning to try some US IPA's. There's a place near me - I think I mentioned them to you before - who import loads of different ones.

The guys at Anchor will always have a place in history as one of the first microbreweries to break out into the national scene. I remember drinking Anchor Steam 20 years ago and having my eyes opened to the possibilities of great beer. That said, their IPA is not a standout in the genre, so keep sampling!
It's been a lot of fun watching the craft beer industry take flight, and the UK is there at the forefront. I had some great beers on my trip to Blighty last year. I didn't receive much feedback for the cans and bottles I brought to the BCG meet-up, but I hope they were well received. British beers are some of my favourites and it will only enrich our lives if the breweries of our respective countries test the waters with new styles and experiments.
