British Comedy Guide

What is narrative comedy?

I have searched but can't find the answer.

My co-writer Aid and I want to enter a competition but we differ on our take of what a narrative comedy script is. :$

Would anyone be able to advise examples of a narrative comedy script, please?

Or maybe our confusion suggests we shouldn't bother entering! Rolling eyes

You could ask the organisers?
I would take narrative comedy to mean anything that is story lead.
So not sketches, obviously.
It's whether or not they include Sit Coms, or are restricting it to comedy-drama.
I would ask them, to be sure.

Which comp is it?

Thanks Lazzard.

I was taking it to mean the main character narrating the story (as voice over) for example whereas Aid thought anything other than sketches.

Didn't want to embarrass ourselves twice by both asking the organisers and then submitting our usual tosh.

It's anything that tells a story. I wouldn't go monologue and not sketches as they say longer form scripted material for radio and TV. Simples :)

I think Aid's right on this.
:)

Thanks Marc P and Lazzard.
Your advice is much appreciated.

We've got just the thing for them to reject.

There is no such thing as rejection. Just missed opportunities for production companies.
