Gawd.

The first one was supposed to produce a quote in 48
hours. 74 hours on, nothing. The second has produced
one for £800 but it isn't clear as yet if that will be
inclusive of VAT. If it isn't, it's back to square one.

Hating every moment of this business before any work. :(

Well, if it was me, I would be rolling up my sleeves now
and doing some measuring prior to commencing - back to square one?

Then go for it! :)

Well I've just accepted the quote with what has now been confirmed
will be no additional VAT. The bloke who disappeared into the ether
has been informed on his voice mail that I have found an alternative.

I can't really afford it but I can't afford not to afford it even more. :)

Would you consider a house swap?

Mine isn't a house as such.

But it could be made into one by someone skilful. :)

You didn't mention this before! Living in a shed - now that makes sense to all your worrying and frustrations.

In that case just line it out with a load of tongue and groove - simples! :)

Talking of sheds, possibly my most ambitious DIY to date, my log cabin is now complete.

Wotcha goin' to do in it Bill?

Initially storage, so that I can empty a room at a time in my house to redecorate & then it will be my historic computer workshop where I will try get various old computers working before I donate then to The Centre for Computing History in Cambridge.

Very smart! :)

Nice, Bill!
It's like a grown up's wendy house. I want one.

I reckon you could get about twenty four illegals in there at £100 each pw.
