Well I made that up, of course. But if you had to choose 7 (or 10 or whatever) types, what would they be?
There are only 7 types of sketch
what do you mean?
As many as seven? Not in my oeuvre
Basically you've got the 'what if' sketch, the character sketch, and the reveal (which is more of a gag than a sketch).
A big beef of mine with modern sketch comedy is that 'what if' sketches are used as runners, which should be restricted to character sketches.
What reason did the police give for putting you on the sex offenders register?

It certainly made that poor WPC gag!

Well very often you hear that 'there are only 7 different types of joke and all the rest are variations', so I wondered if you could make a list of different types of sketches. I didn't want to be too specific in order to allow people to choose to answer the question in whichever way they wanted. So in addition to Tursiop's suggestion, you could start a list with:
"man versus environment, man versus technology, man versus self ..."
or you could try "shop sketch, gameshow, history sketch ..."
or maybe "satire, surreal, farce ..."
or ...?
Umm, think you are working yourself into a corner with this one possibly?
Satire, surreal, farce, I grant you but "man versus........" is a subject - not a type surely?
How about:
-The sitcom sketch, the sketch that merely shows your regular characters acting in a certain way.
-The shop sketch.
-The party sketch.
-The brainstorm in an office sketch.
-The sketch based on an important area of news.
-The sketch where you interview someone, usually on the street.
-The sketch where you parody a certain TV show.
-The sketch which more of a monologue.
-Everything else.

Ummm, but the question was types, whereas some of yours there are subjects?
Monologue, parody and maybe news are good examples in my opinion.
You could have a parody or surreal shop sketch - a classic example would be MP's Cheese Shop where they parody so called specialist shops and surreal with the Greek band in the background - or they were just having a bit of fun.
Classic (2 characters different viewpoints)
Parody
Colliding worlds
Pull back reveal
Surreal
The switcheroo
The reverse punch
The Flim Flam
The Visual gag
And the backward flipparound
