One liners on BGT

Hello,

I have been watching a lot of stand up comedy performances on BGT lately and all the people who say one liners generally get a bad reaction. I'm not sure whether it is because their jokes are just bad or people don't appreciate one liners as much. Yet, there are still many successful one liner comedians around.

What are your thoughts on it?

No drugs allowed on this forum.

To be a good one-liner comic is different to being a storyteller type as you have to establish your personality in a different way. Programmes such as these probably don't allow for such use of time, and perhaps the contestants aren't yet experienced enough to do it properly.

I couldn't imagine a worse atmosphere for standup than BGT. Most comedians that do well, do well facing an audience warmed up and expecting comedy.
BGT is also plop.

What's BGT?

Is that the Cowell thing?

At first I thought it was BCG (getting dyslexic in my old age) but then I realised.
