The theme to comedy series "No, Honestly" by Lynsey De Paul:

RIP.

First I heard; how said. Pop packaging meant she never got the critical recognition she deserved, but she was a lovely singer and song-writer.

She wrote some great songs including Storm in a Teacup for the Fortunes.

Plus of course her own hits Won't somebody dance with me, Getting a drag and Sugar me to name a few.

Funny how she does seem to have been forgotten really.

Yes, sad. She disappeared for a long time. Then she did a Marc Bolan tribute gig with Noddy Holder a couple of years ago and looked nowhere near 62 as she was then. You can generally rely on Bob Stanley of St Etienne to find some good words on occasions like this one and here he is with a tribute in The Guardian:

Just to add a couple of topical things, she performed her own version of "Storm in a Teacup" on "The Two Ronnies" in 1972. And - courtesy of the late show on BBC Radio London on which she was often in recent times a talking guest - she was close to Spike Milligan who named her Looney De Small and for whom she unveiled a statue following his death so there were several connections between her and British comedy.

Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to hear Susan Boyle singing Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", now's your chance.
Once heard - never forgotten.

:D

A lot of people are going to hate it but I reckon it's alright. I don't generally like the sort of programme that gave her fame but I have a bit of a soft spot for her. She's a lot more memorable than most who have won.

Not sure that I am ever so keen on that one, JohnnyD, but I found it interesting because I've not heard of him before. Wikipedia suggests that he has done quite a lot of things and some of them quite avant-garde.

Seeing Burnley back in the Premiership started me thinking of these again. Funny how some sink without trace. 5 stars in Q magazine. I loved the album at the time. They will now be the age they sounded then. Incidentally, apologies for the slight jump in the middle but the video was probably released on bakerlite.

Just listened to the Siouxsie Sioux/Steve Severin choice CD free in this months Mojo.

Some great dramatic music - mainly instrumentals including Romeo and Juliet, Man of Mystery by the Shadows and several film or TV themes from the 50s and 60s.

Listening to 10cc's 'Une Nuit a Paris' for the first time.

Bloody hell, this is potty.
