I don't have a problem with repeat fees being paid from the BBC licence. New shows in place of old ones in the schedule would be costly anyway. There is, I think, an issue about the broadcasting framework which provides advantages to Gold-style channels to the detriment of programme makers. It makes a mockery of what is claimed to be fair competition. While some might argue that the BBC receives additional revenues from those channels, it would be a stronger organisation if the competition was truly fair and consequently there was a narrower range of alternative options. Fair competition is not the same as loading the scales.
Bet Perry or Croft(estate) get a lot more than that.
