Repeat Fees! Page 2

I don't have a problem with repeat fees being paid from the BBC licence. New shows in place of old ones in the schedule would be costly anyway. There is, I think, an issue about the broadcasting framework which provides advantages to Gold-style channels to the detriment of programme makers. It makes a mockery of what is claimed to be fair competition. While some might argue that the BBC receives additional revenues from those channels, it would be a stronger organisation if the competition was truly fair and consequently there was a narrower range of alternative options. Fair competition is not the same as loading the scales.

Funny you should mention David Croft, as his shows have been pulled from US PBS channels over payments.

I'm not greedy and if it brought some joy into people's lives and gave me a nice tandoori chicken supper then I am happy.

Interesting after what I had read in A.L.'s biog. re the very surprising repeat fees they are/were paid.
