Any retail workers on here get sick of customers acting like total idiots?

The customer is always right!
You ever worked on the shop floor? The customer is always right in the books but that idea's just a rose tinted notion but I've heard and seen the way they're treated by some of the customers. I know of till operators who've been reduced to tears by customers and actually seen shop floor staff threatened with a knife by a repeat shoplifter. Even had a customer have a go at me over something which I had no control over and wasn't even my fault until one of the other staff came out and had a go at her.
That's because shop staff are lazy, useless, thick, unhelpful, pushy bastards.
And yes, I have worked on a shop floor.
Me too.

Have you been to Homebase?

Depends who you work with.
I've worked with some very unreliable people and I've even seen arguments at the tills that put some of the aggro on the Jeremy Kyle Show in the shade.

Unless you're in China, where the customer is often Wong.
I like those self service checkouts - just so handy to use and it saves waiting in line at the old style ones with the person.
I loathe self-service checkouts and will happily stand in a mile long queue instead. I want a human to serve me, not a dictatorial disembodied voice.
I don't mind the self service tills as long as they actually work and don't throw a spaz attack because you breathe near the bagging area.
I was making a joke about the self service machines - in response to the original post
Although, they are great for saving money. Like, I'm quite partial to a pink lady apple but they're quite dear so I just put them through as breaburn. I'm clever like that. Same with chocolate coisants vs plain coisants.
Also, when you weigh things you can subtly have half of them on the scales and half off it.

Shoplifters don't count as customers.
I like self-service machines because you can take all those coppers that accumulate at home, and feed them all in.
It hasn't been spelled out already, but in case it's not understood, it should be explained that the customer is said to always be right because s/he is the one buying your product.
The customer is often wrong, but that doesn't affect their statutory rights.

Isn't that shoplifting?
