Fred Barron Question

Hi,

I'm new here and I have loved British sitcoms since I first saw Are You Being Served on the local PBS station a few years ago.

One thing I was wondering is it common for an American to sell programs to British production companies? I ask because Fred Barron seemed to have a lot more success producing British series then he ever did over here in the States.

What has Fred Barron done since My Family went off the air?

Jim Henson is probably a more well known example of an American creating shows for the UK; then you have David Crane and Jeremy Klarik in Episodes.

Fred Barron went on to produce According To Bex and After You've Gone, the latter had Celia Imrie and Nick Lyndhurst in it.

If I recall, Fred Barron left My Family around Series 5 and, aside from a few other creations (two of which are mentioned above), I understand is now working back in the US.

Interestingly, both My Family and The Muppet Show were pitched to US networks and turned down before being brought to the UK and made successes of.
