What will it be like in...

.....the year 4000?

And the reason for asking this is that I always make up a calendar each year for work and for me, but this year, as I will be retiring soon, I thought I would make up 10 years worth, which should cover me until death.

Anyway, on checking the site I use to see if they went up to the year 2025, I found out that they actually go up to 3999 (when I tried to go beyond that, an error message said "Don't be stupid!") ; but it got me wondering WHY they decided to go up to such a high year date when the likelihood of calendars as we know it or the internet as we know it will be long defunct (Star Date?) OR we will be on another planet OR realise that it was all a dream OR we were all living in a hologram OR we will be just dust in the void.

If you can find time to reflect for a moment - think about how far man has come in the last two thousand years. What those people who were living around the start of the first millennia would make of today - it would blow their minds; and so, given that all of the sciences not only progress but also accelerate - what will life be like in another 2000 years. Would it blow our minds if we could go forward to that time?

It seems to me that given how far we have come in the last two thousand years that anything is possible.

What'd ya think?

I am very interested to know, no matter how bizarre.

You obviously haven't heard of the song In The Year 2525... by Zafer and Evans.

Either we will be zapped or living on another planet.

All the roads will be travelators.

Jesus Christ, our Lord and saviour will return

And ...

Ermm

F**k, I really need to read my Bible

It'll be good anyways

And that was Pope Lofty the Not so Innocents thought for the day.
The Suppository

How DARE you accuse me of being a Catholic

You take that back you bastard

Anyhoooo

In teh future there will be no cash - only credit cards

There will be one world government ruling the whole miserable planet

We will all have a micro chip inserted into our bodies

And Liverpool still won't have ever won the premiership

I've noticed recently my hair is starting to thin out. By the year 4000 I reckon I'll be completely bald.

I didn't say you were catholic, I said you were the pope.
And according to the local paper, you do wear a red dress, funny hat and tell other people how to have sex in public.

Pope dude is catholic ...

Who the FUUUUUUUUUCCKKKKK does he think he is?

Like he's some 'special' Christian?

Yeah I'm the top Christian so I get a fancy title and this special hat and my own bat mobile

C**t

It's all bollocks

Have, and a great song - just one theory, albeit a very interesting one. :)

All religious people will worship Raymond Baxter. I dunno. Parts of the OP sounded a bit dark. That ten years bit. I hope it will be more. It is impossible to say, particularly when 2014 is unreal. By 2040, the planet will probably be well and truly fracked. My old Nan saw her namesake, Queen Victoria, near the Elephant as well as knowing Chaplin, sort of. She saw him around a lot. But I think the thing that stands out the most to me is that she also remembered farm animals being walked by a shepherd along the Old Kent Road. That was not much more than a hundred years ago which shows how far we have travelled in hardly any time at all.

And probably the cars travel at the same speed.

Cars? In the year 4000?.........What like a Ford Fiesta Mark MMMMVVVXXX that has no wheels or tyres just a cushion of air and the bodywork is made out of clouds.

Personally, I can't see us being on this planet or even existing then. :(

We can only hope and pray - that you're right that is!
