Just one day left after this. How are we all doing?

I'm starting mine tonight.

I'm starting mine tonight.

What's your book about? Because if it's my biography, as I suspect it will be, I'm going to need to take a pass over it before it goes into mass circulation.

I'm a little surprised more people didn't go in for this. 50,000 cents ($5k) just for writing 50,000 words? I mean I know the exchange rate isn't great right now but that's still a handy wedge, especially with Christmas coming up. I didn't even write most of my book - I gave up at about 4000 words in and copy and pasted the rest from a Haynes Manual for the VW polo.

Oh well, each to their own.

5 days until this all starts again.

Anyone going in? I have my idea. Will I do 50k in a month? Arghh, probably not, between work and studying and seeing friends and family.
But this thing isn't just for NaNoWriMo, I intend it to be my proper novel, like 70/80k. So I'll still be on it long after November.

I think I'm doing it!
Annoyingly I'm away for the first 3 days of November, so won't get much done.

If you're doing this properly, stuff like 'seeing friends' should be put on hold. The idea is to free up writing time by quitting anything non-essential.

He's not wrong!

I'm going to use NaNoWriMo to write script rather than book with the aim to be to complete a sitcom idea I've had to an acceptable standard rather than 50,000 words. Just nice to have a deadline!

2 hours!

Right - got an idea in mind. an old fantasy novel I started and planned about 20 years ago. Lost all the actual writing I've already done but I've got the concept and characters in my head.

You should've done Script frenzy in April.

I don't have much of a novel idea but wanted to get involved, so my vague plan is to sit and write every day of November, and see what happens! At worst I should get a couple of short stories and some comedy out of it, but mainly it'll just be about making the most of my time and writing more. Or at least discussing writing with other people and getting some ideas out. If you can't face a novel just make it creative month.

Anyone planing to do this this year?

I may have a go. Not sure whether to work on my novel that I'm struggling with although I'll do it properly - or o do something new.

I think I'll be giving it another go this year, as Newsjack will have conveniently finished the week before.

Have done (and won) NaNoWriMo 5 times previously, 2007-2011. Though I've never continued with those novels outside of November. Will see if I can actually plot something this year rather than just being a pantser, and aim to carry it on after November and have something to show for it.
