Isn't he just playing a character? In real life he's Jewish and has played straight characters on film, notably in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine recently. Dice on stage appears to be this ignorant old fashioned Italian American character he's honed over the years.
He was mandatory listening round where I grew up, when I was 17 and knew no better. He was pretty huge in the US at the time.
I thought he was just a c**t who got on TV.
